5 Steps to a Perfect Smokey Eye Look

Make your eyes pop with a Smokey eye look. Smokey eyes remain an “it” look throughout the seasons, and you can learn how to master this look as well. Using these tips, you can go from simple to sultry.

Blending is the key to a fantastic Smokey eye, so once you’ve mastered it, you can easily improve your blending skills by adding colors.

# Step 01

Prepare the eyelids. Prep the eyes with a primer to avoid makeup meltdown.

# Step 02

Put on your eyeliner. Begin by applying eyeliner in the color of your desired eye look. For instance, if you want black, brown, or gray eyes, use the same color eyeliner. When drawing the line on the lids, make sure the middle section has a thicker line.

# Step 03

Apply the color to the bottom lashes. Blending and smudging are essential for a Smokey eye. For the bottom lashes, use a lighter eyeliner or a lighter eyeshadow color.

# Step 04

This is an important step in achieving the ultimate Smokey eye. Use a light foundation color! Your eyes will get the desired look by blending a light color with a darker color. Apply a light base to the lids and brow bone. It is best to use a light base with shimmer. Then, blend in the darker color, keeping it down at the crease. Begin at the lash line and work your way up the eyelids with a dark eyeshadow. Remember to blend the eyeshadow along the lash line so that the eyeliner is not visible. If necessary, blend with a Q-tip.

To complete the look, apply black mascara.
